Turkey Client Deploys 10 Detachable Container Units With Wood-Grain Panels and Internal Staircase
Turkish Contractor Builds Two-Storey Site Complex From 10 Flat Pack Container Units
A construction contractor based in Turkey has taken delivery of ten 20ft flat pack container house units from Global Container (Suzhou) Co., Ltd., assembled into a two-storey site building with an internal staircase, customized white frames, wood-grain wall panels, plus an additional roof layer and suspended ceiling. The project demonstrates how far the flat pack platform can be pushed beyond the standard white site cabin when a buyer is prepared to specify finishes in detail.
Project Requirements
The client's brief was shaped by two factors: an exposed inland site with wide seasonal temperature swings, and a requirement that the finished building read as a permanent structure rather than temporary accommodation. Turkish sites also operate under strict seismic design expectations, which made structural performance a non-negotiable element of the specification rather than an optional upgrade.
- 10 units of 20ft flat pack container house, configured as a two-storey block
- White-painted steel frame for a clean architectural appearance
- Wood-grain colour steel wall panels replacing the standard flat finish
- Internal staircase linking ground and upper floor within the building envelope
- Additional roof layer plus suspended ceiling for thermal and acoustic performance

Why the Double Roof and Suspended Ceiling Mattered
The additional roof layer and suspended ceiling were not cosmetic choices. In inland Turkey, summer surface temperatures on a single-skin metal roof can drive interior heat gain sharply, while winter nights punish any weak point in the thermal envelope. Inserting a ventilated cavity between the outer roof and the structural roof, then closing the interior with a suspended ceiling, delivers three practical benefits: reduced solar heat gain, a buffer against condensation on the underside of the roof panel, and noticeably lower noise from rain and wind.
The result is a building whose interior comfort is closer to light-gauge steel construction than to conventional container accommodation — achieved without changing the transport profile of the module.
Wood-Grain Finish With a White Frame
The client specified a white frame paired with wood-grain faced wall panels. The contrast works structurally as well as visually: the white frame keeps the structural silhouette crisp and modern, while the wood-grain embossed colour steel breaks up the large flat facades that make standard container buildings read as temporary. Because the finish is applied to the colour steel face of the sandwich panel during panel manufacture, it carries no additional site labour and does not require repainting.
Assembly and Delivery
All ten units were produced on a standardized line and shipped as flat-pack kits. Bolt-only connection meant no welding was required on site — an important detail for the client, since it removed hot-work permits and specialist welder availability from the critical path of the installation programme. Ten units sit comfortably inside a single 40HQ container, which allowed freight to be consolidated economically rather than split across multiple sailings.
On arrival, the internal staircase permitted the two floors to function as one connected building instead of two separate blocks, preserving usable floor area that an external stair would have consumed.
Certification and Compliance
The shipment was delivered with ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 management system certification, CE marking on applicable products, SGS inspection, fireproof certification, wind resistance test documentation, UL-listed electrical components, RoHS-compliant electricals and asbestos-free test reports.
Outcome
The project delivered a two-storey site complex with a residential-quality exterior, an internally connected floor plan and an upgraded thermal envelope — assembled from modules that shipped flat and were erected by bolting. For contractors working in seismically active and climate-extreme regions, it is a practical template: specify the finish and the envelope correctly at order stage, and the flat pack platform will deliver a permanent-feeling building on a temporary-feeling schedule.
