Desert Water: Container Pools for Plots Where Digging Is the Expensive Part
Νέα λεπτομέρεια

In the desert, the expensive part of a pool is not the pool. It is the hole. Caliche, decomposed granite, rock at half a metre — excavation can run longer than the finished structure costs, and on a sloping lot it can decide whether the project happens at all.

A container pool skips that entirely. The unit is built in the factory, delivered finished, and set down.

Water against dust

The desert palette is gravel, rusted steel, stone, cactus and dry grass. A white pool in that landscape looks imported. The wood-grain finish with black trim picks up the rust tones of a corten screen and the shadow lines of a stone wall, so the pool reads as part of the courtyard rather than as a municipal facility dropped onto it.

At golden hour the water does the rest. Two IP68 18 W LED lights — four on the 8.8 m — keep that going after the sun is gone, which in the desert is the hour the yard is actually used.

What the ground has to do

Nothing structural. The load travels through a galvanized steel frame — 80 x 120 x 2.75 mm main beams, 50 x 70 x 2.75 mm side beams — into prepared ground or a slab. The basin is moulded fiberglass with a resin gel coat: algae-resistant, wipe-clean, and stable under UV and temperature swing.

Every set arrives complete: pump WQ20-15-2.2 at 20 m³/h and 15 m head, skimmer 500 Slim with DN50 PVC/PPR pipework, QSS-60 salt chlorinator at 16–20 g/h, 30 mm polyurethane spray foam insulation, sand filter, valves, and the lighting. No excavation for above-ground installation.

Evaporation and the heat pump question

In dry heat, a pool loses water to evaporation and gains nothing from the air at night. Two things matter: the 30 mm insulation around the basin, and the optional PAC60 air-source heat pump at 16 kW, rated for basins up to 60 m³. In a desert climate the pump is less about extending the season and more about keeping the water at the temperature people expect when it is 40°C outside — cool enough to enter, without being a cold plunge at midnight.

Hillside and hard-rock plots

This is where the delivery format matters most. A lot that would need retaining walls, benching or rock-breaking for a dug pool can take a container pool on a prepared pad, with the frame and liner allowing partial or full recessing where the grade calls for it. Where the plot is flat, the unit simply sits above grade and becomes the terrace's edge.

Four sizes, 3.9 m to 8.8 m overall, one to six sets per 40HQ. In a place where water is the luxury, the pool should not also be a construction project.
