Evening Light, Pale Stone, Still Water: A Beige Container Pool for Northern Courtyards
ニュース詳細

The best hour in a northern garden is not midday. It is nine in the evening in June, when the light comes in almost horizontal, the paving is still warm, and nobody wants to go inside. A pool earns its place at that hour — not as a swimming facility but as the surface the whole garden arranges itself around.

Pale shell, soft light

The beige stone-texture finish was chosen for exactly this light. A sand-toned surface holds the low sun instead of reflecting it back, and the wood deck edge gives the eye a warm line at the waterline. Against dark timber cladding and grey paving, it reads as stone rather than as a manufactured box.

Under the finish, the shell is a moulded fiberglass basin with a resin gel coat: algae-resistant, wiped clean rather than resurfaced, and unaffected by the freeze-thaw cycle it will sit through every year.

An evening room without walls

Place a pool on the terrace edge and the outdoor seating rearranges itself. Chairs turn toward the water; the dining table moves closer; the pergola stops being a structure and becomes a room. Two IP68 18 W LED underwater lights — four on the longest size — carry that room past sunset without any additional garden lighting.

This is the part that is hard to put in a specification sheet. A pool in a small northern garden is not primarily for swimming lengths. It is for the hour after dinner, the children still in the water at ten at night, and the reflection of the house in a surface that was not there last summer.

What it takes to install

A crane lift on the D-ring points, prepared ground, a power connection, water. No excavation for above-ground installation, no concrete, no tiling. The unit arrives as a complete set: pump WQ20-15-2.2 at 20 m³/h, skimmer 500 Slim with DN50 PVC/PPR pipework, QSS-60 salt chlorinator, 30 mm polyurethane insulation, sand filter and valves, pre-assembled.

The PAC60 air-source heat pump, 16 kW and rated to 60 m³, is the option that turns an evening pool into a May-to-September one. In a country where the season is decided by water temperature rather than by the calendar, it is usually the first box ticked.

Four sizes, 3.9 m to 8.8 m overall. One set per 40HQ at the longest, six at the shortest.
