Flat Pack Container House Guide: 20ft Detachable Units for Worker Camps and Site Offices
What Is a Flat Pack Container House?
The flat pack container house is a modular building shipped as a set of factory-finished panels and a galvanised steel frame, then bolted together on site. Global Container (Suzhou) Co., Ltd. manufactures the 20ft detachable flat pack unit as its standard workhorse model for worker dormitories, site offices, canteens and stores in high-density construction and industrial projects.
Each unit measures 6,000 x 3,000 x 2,840 mm and delivers roughly 18 m² of floor area with a 2.84 m internal height — noticeably taller than a conventional container conversion, which allows full-height windows and a more comfortable interior for long-stay occupants.

Logistics: 18 Units per 40HQ
Flat packing is the core commercial advantage. Panels nest together and frames stack, so 18 units fit into a single 40HQ container. For a 180-person camp, that means ten containers instead of thirty-plus conventional conversions, with a proportional reduction in ocean freight, port handling and inland trucking.
On site, the same logic applies in reverse: units can be disassembled, relocated to the next project and rebuilt without cutting or welding. Contractors working on multi-phase infrastructure programmes reuse the same asset base across sites.
Stacking and Layout
The structural frame supports stacking up to three floors, which is decisive where land is constrained or where the camp must sit close to the work front. Layouts are configured at the factory: single rooms, four-person dormitories, open-plan offices, ablution blocks or combined office-and-store units. Internal partitions, door positions and window quantities are all adjustable.
- Worker dormitory: four to eight berths with lockers and air conditioning.
- Site office: open-plan desks with a partitioned meeting room.
- Canteen or store: reinforced floor and wide access openings.
- Combined units: two or three modules joined to form larger spaces.
Assembly and Delivery
A standard unit is assembled by a small crew with hand tools and a light crane or telehandler. Because panels arrive pre-cut, pre-insulated and pre-wired, there is no wet trade, no curing time and no scaffolding. Global Container quotes a production and delivery window of 10 to 20 working days, with a minimum order quantity of four units and supply capacity of up to 300 units per day.
Compliance and Finish
Units are supplied with ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 management certification, CE marking on applicable products, SGS inspection, fireproof certification, wind resistance test reports, and electrical components meeting CE, IEC or UL requirements. Wall panels are available in rock wool for fire performance, EPS for cost efficiency or PU for higher thermal resistance, with colour steel finishes matched to the buyer's brand.
Requesting a Quotation
Buyers are invited to send headcount, layout requirements, destination port and climate conditions. Global Container will return a container loading plan, panel specification and delivery schedule for the project.
