Modular clinics and schools after an earthquake: schedules you can actually hold
Szczegóły wiadomości

In disaster response, housing takes the attention and services take the delay. A school that does not open in September loses a full academic year; a health centre that does not open in the first month pushes patients into an already saturated hospital. Both are solved with the same module, and the difference is specification and schedule.

School: what changes from a home

  • Area and light: windows on opposite facades for daylight and cross ventilation, with insect screens.
  • Acoustics: sandwich panel helps, but separation between classrooms needs double panel or a cavity.
  • Accessibility: ramp at an acceptable gradient and a door of sufficient width.
  • Services: wiring for lighting, fans or air conditioning, and points for IT equipment.

Our module ships with concealed wiring and a mounted distribution board; on site the incoming supply connects at one point.

Health centre: the wet module drives the programme

In a modular clinic the bottleneck is not the consulting room, it is water. Every wash point, every drain and every tank needs fall and connection. The practice that works is to group wet rooms at one end of the complex with a single water inlet and a single waste outlet, and to build sanitary modules in the factory so they arrive tested.

A pre-assembled sanitary module removes the slowest site activity: waterproofing, leak testing and drying.

Two-storey modular complex: the same type serves as classrooms, consulting rooms or staff accommodation.

Schedules: what can be promised

Stage What it covers Who controls it
Design and approved drawings Layout, openings, electrical and sanitary layout Manufacturer and buyer
Production Frame, panels, joinery, services Manufacturer
Transport Ocean and inland to site Carrier and local operator
Installation and connections Opening or assembly, levelling, connections Site crew

A serious manufacturer commits precisely only on the first two. Anyone promising a final date without knowing the port leg is transferring that risk to the buyer.

For health and education projects in affected areas we prepare the full package: drawings, material schedule, phased production plan and container packing list. It can be issued before the tender.

An advantage that gets forgotten: relocation

A modular school built on a temporary plot often has to move when the permanent building is rebuilt. A module with a bolted frame closes, lifts and travels. That capability is, in practice, what stops temporary equipment becoming scrap in year three.
