Palms, Paving and a Pool in One Delivery: Florida Backyards Without the Build

A Florida backyard has a specific problem. The growing season never stops, the ground is often sand over limestone, and a conventional pool build means weeks of a fenced-off excavation in the middle of the yard — during the part of the year when the yard is most usable.

A container pool compresses that to a delivery. The finished unit arrives on a flatbed, is lifted by crane onto prepared ground, connected to power, and filled.

What a black shell does in strong sun

South Florida light is unforgiving to pale surfaces. A white shell in full sun is bright enough that the water inside it becomes hard to see. The black ribbed finish absorbs rather than reflects, which lowers the glare across the terrace and makes the water read as the brightest thing in the composition — which is where the eye should go.

The ribbed profile also hides the reality of what the pool is. At ten metres it looks like a built structure; at one metre you can still see the panel joints, and that is the point — the finish is honest about being a panel system, and reads as deliberate detailing rather than as a boxed container.

The practical half

The basin is moulded fiberglass with a resin gel coat. A gel-coated surface resists algae and is wiped clean; it does not need re-grouting, and it does not chalk in UV. It sits in a galvanized steel frame — 80 x 120 x 2.75 mm main beams, 50 x 70 x 2.75 mm side beams — bonded with polyurethane epoxy structural adhesive and finished with PVC corner profiles. The viewing window is 12 + 12 mm laminated tempered glass.

Included with every set: pump WQ20-15-2.2 at 20 m³/h and 15 m head, skimmer 500 Slim with DN50 pipework, QSS-60 salt chlorinator at 16–20 g/h, 30 mm polyurethane spray foam insulation, sand filter, valves, and IP68 18 W LED lights — two on the shorter sizes, four on the 8.8 m.

For the yards that are also businesses

Along the rental coasts, the backyard is inventory. A pool that arrives in one delivery can be installed between bookings rather than in a closed season. A pool that can be drained and lifted can move with the property portfolio. And a pool that does not require excavation can go onto a lot where the site plan, the setback or the water table would otherwise rule it out.

Where the design calls for it, the frame and liner also allow the unit to be partly or fully recessed — so the same pool can sit above grade on sand or be set into a terrace.

Four sizes from 3.9 m to 8.8 m overall, one to six sets per 40HQ. One lift, one fill, and the yard is a yard again.
