Pools for Short Summers: A Black Container Pool in a Nordic Garden
ข่าวรายละเอียด

In northern Europe the pool season is short and the light is long. A garden that is used for four months a year has to earn its keep in those four months, and a pool that takes a construction season to install has already spent most of them.

This is why the container pool works in a Nordic garden in a way it does not always work further south. It arrives in a delivery, not a programme of works. It is set down, filled, and used.

A dark shell in a pale landscape

Birch, grey paving, weathered timber, a dark-stained house. A white pool in that composition shouts. The black ribbed finish sits into it instead: the profile picks up the vertical rhythm of the cladding and the fence lines, and at dusk the water reads as a dark pane rather than a bright rectangle.

A darker shell also changes how the water looks. Pale interiors read as milky in low sun; a dark surround makes the water itself the only bright surface. In a garden where the sun sits low for most of the evening, that is the difference between a pool that is looked at and a pool that is looked into.

The heat pump is not a luxury here

The optional PAC60 air-source heat pump, 16 kW, is rated for basins up to 60 m³. North of the Baltic this is the option that decides whether the pool is a two-month event or a five-month habit. Paired with the 30 mm polyurethane spray foam insulation around the basin, it holds temperature through cool nights rather than reheating every morning.

Compact by necessity

Nordic plots are often tight and often share a boundary. The range starts at 3.9 m overall — a plunge pool that fits along a fence line — and steps up through 5.5 m to 8.8 m for a lap pool. Every size ships complete with pump, skimmer, salt chlorinator, insulation, filter, pipework, lights, inlets and outlets. No excavation is needed for above-ground installation; where the garden slopes or the design calls for it, the frame and liner allow partial recessing.

The frame is galvanized steel — 80 x 120 x 2.75 mm main beams, 50 x 70 x 2.75 mm side beams — carrying a moulded fiberglass basin with a resin gel coat and 12 + 12 mm laminated tempered glass in the viewing window. It is built for winters it will not be used in.

Four months of use is not a compromise if the pool is ready for all four of them.
